ADVAntages of 3-phase generation in power system

This blog is about advantages of 3-phase system in power GENERATION

v      Advantages of 3-phase over single phase in Generation of power :-
Power system is always 3-phase. The three phases of power system are
·       Generation
·       Transmission and Distribution
·       Utilization

                                     (Power system)

Here I am going to explain the advantages of 3-phase system over single phase in generation phase :-

Ø P/W Ratio:
This stands for power to weight ratio. P/W ratio of 3-phase alternator is high as compared to single phase alternator.

      ü (Alternator or Synchronous Generator)

It means , for generation of same amount of electrical power, the size of 3-phase alternator is small as compared to single phase alternator.

         ü {(3-phase alternator size(blue) and
                         single phase alternator size(red)}

Thus , the overall cost of the system is reduced for generation of same amount of power. Moreover, due to reduction of weight, transportation and installation will be easier.

     ü (Installation of Alternator)

And  less space is reqiured to accumodate with alternator in power . Due to reduction of weight , size of alternator reduces, hence manufacturing ,handling , transportation and instalaton becomes easy .

This Post is about Stepper Motors and its different types..
v      Stepper Motor
A motor that devides a full rotation into a number of equal steps is called stepper motor. This is how a stepper motor looks like..

v      Parts of A Stepper Motor:

v      Types of Stepper Motor:
There are four types of stepper motor:
Ø Permanent Magnet Stepper

Ø Hybird Synchronous Stepper

Ø Variable reluctance stepper

Ø Lavet type stepping motor

Difference between an ordinary motor and a stepper motor:
There are four major differences:
1-      Stepper motors have no brushes. Wether brushes are the rotating parts of other DC motors.

2-      In A stepper motor ,permanent magnets are inside and rotate(rotor) while coils are outside and stay static(stator).
3-      Third difference is the difference in it’s construction. Stepper motor has inner magnet devided into many sections which looks like teeth. Outer coils have corresponding teeth that provide magnetic impulse and making the teeth of inner wheel rotate by small steps.
4-      Stepper motor posses holding torque .i.e. it has ability to stay still after a certain movement.

Below is shown
